The Saatchi and Saatchi New Director’s Showcase celebrates new filmmakers and directors from all over the globe and belongs to the annual awards show, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

James W. Griffiths and his two minute 25 second creation entitled ‘Splitscreen: A Love Story’ was selected for the esteemed showcase and appeared alongside 17 other up-and-coming directors. His piece stood out however as it challenged the norm due to being shot using a mobile phone.

Griffiths’ piece documents two people’s journeys to meet each other, travelling through towns and fields before the two are finally united on a bridge.

The short film is fast paced and beautiful, and created using a Nokia N8. This new take on filming is what propelled Griffiths to become the winner of the Nokia Shorts competition 2011. With the help of director of photography Christopher Moon, the clip has had over 90,000 hits on Youtube and has been praised globally.
