Preview- Visions Fest

Visions Fest

This Saturday, Hackney is the place you will want to be. Spread across eight venues the well-received Vision Festival is back.

If you want to ease your way into the day, then the dog show is where you need be- starting at noon there will be prizes for waggiest tail and best Twin Peaks costume. Yes there will be dogs dressed as characters from Twin Peaks- all judged by the Mystery Jets and Girl Ray. Surely that would be enough reason alone to attend the festival.

If that isn’t quite your thing then live music is scattered throughout the day, with performances from Liars, SOPHIE, and Frankie Cosmos to name a few. The vast majority of these acts with take place at Oval Space, Mangle, London Field’s Brewhouse, Night Tales and Sebright Arms- all of which are handily situated in walking distance from eachother.

You should definitely check out the screen-print studio run by the Positive Press, they will print your very own visions t-shirt for you on the day. While you wait you should drop by the record and zine fair. Tome records are bringing a carefully curated selection of their best new and used vinyl; expect new releases, rarities and classics- an absolute must for any record lovers.

Sailor Jerry spiced rum has collaborated with Space Studio Gallery to bring you a tattoo exhibition- you can enjoy the showcased work from the tattoo artist Liam Sparkes, the owner of Old Habits tattoo on Kingsland Road. You will be able to witness live tattooing and get an insight into tattoo culture, all while sipping on a selection of Sailor Jerry drinks just a stones throw away from the studio.

Last, but by no means least, the best street food vendors will be supplying you with their delectable food all day. You can choose from Mama’s Jerk, the Arancini Brothers and Le Bao which will be serving their delicious steamed buns from start to finish. For those of you who favour sweet over savoury do not worry, Le Merlin will be dishing out crepes. With a short break at 3pm so that Frankie Cosmos and Kero Kero Bonito can have a cook-off, or should that be crepe-off.
